Not a problem... As long as you keep your end of the conversation up,
and don't lose the important bits, that's what counts... ;) And, as
you've probably noticed, I've been slowly responding back, anyway... ;)
Well, I'm trying to keep it up, but as you can tell the volume that
I'm able to deal with has decreased a bit in the last few weeks. I'm going to work on compressing what's left a bit, too, so that I don't
have such an overwhelming amount to deal with here.

Can't blame you there... ;) At the moment, I seem to be able to stay
on top of things and stay current... so at least I shouldn't be sending
you lots all at once... <G>

Did all of the mess around the late etc payments finally get
    straightened around...?
Everything is good. I haven't replenished what I had to survive off
of from savings, but this week should hopefully put me back in the
green far enough so that I can start making deposits again.

Sounds good... :) Definitely moving in the right direction... :)

Hopefully the contract work will pick up again quickly... :)
It seems to be picking up. Granted, some of the work was more of
a creative exercise in finding out what the client wanted but
didn't know that they wanted, but the point is that they've
    authorized more hours. :)

More hours authorized is very good... :) The creative exercise is
probably actually part of why they hire the work out instead of trying
    to do it themselves... ;)

As for the hourly work, also hopefully something that will easily
fit your schedule around Deschain's school hours, and that isn't
too far away for your transportation there.....
The hourly work is something that I haven't done much about yet.
I really need to, but I'm taking baby steps on getting myself back out into the world of people. A couple of the different professionals that I've been talking to have recommended after the amount of isolation
that I've been dealing with to take it slow, so I'm hoping to start taking an hour a day at different coffee shops around here now that
I've got a working laptop battery.

That actually sounds like very sound advice... easier to acclimatize
yourself that way to the pressures of being in that world of people...

I wonder if I'll get any comments about how awesome, retro, and
vintage my laptop is since it's a massive hulk from awhile ago
instead of something slim 'n new. Heh.

Chuckle. ;) My laptop has just been "upgraded" from an Epson 486 to a
Toshiba Satellite Pro (don't remember if it's another 486 or something later)... Last year, with my old one, my niece spotted it and exclaimed
That's a Dinasaur! <G> My new one is pretty much a dinasaur, too, but
    at least it works... ;)

Next time, remember your inhaler.. ;) But that sounds like some
    decent progress... :)
The progress is getting better rapidly. I'm back up to my normal recovery and performance curve on running, almost.

    Sounds very good... :)

The strength issues are still hanging around until that shoulder is
good enough to train with. I don't know how long that's going to
take; it's still a few more weeks before I can see the physical
therapist for more input on that again, as well.

In the meantime, you are doing the exercises the PT gave you for it,
anyway, right...? Too bad you have to wait so long....

Mind you, I'm speaking as a non-smoker... but with friends and family
that do smoke... In my experience, though, observing, the smokes
never really do do as much good as they are supposedly doing, and
cause health problems of various sorts as well...
Well smokes allegedly help one deal with stress. Nicotine alone is pretty good for it, I hear. So it makes a great crutch.

I've heard that tale, too... and I'll buy the crutch aspect... ;) From
the outside, though, it doesn't look like it does much for the stress
really, except as something that the person thinks is helping...

Other than that it's good for nothing, and the crutch thing is a double-edged sword anyway. You don't want crutches that you can't
throw away when you don't need them any more.

    For real... :)

Anyhoo I've got asthma and all kinds of fun stuff like that, too.
So they've never really been a plus in my department for anything
other than helping me deal with social anxiety. Totally not worth
it. The health problems are enormous and can be quite life-ending,
    so yeah...

Yup... certainly better for you to let them alone... :)

I'm glad I've been off of all the tobacco for a week again now.
See if I can push back up into the years away from it again this
    time. ;)

I'm rooting for you to succeed... :)

Does talking to your VA docs do any good...? You'd think they'd have
some interest in keeping you stable... you'd think, anyway... ;0
They're putting it off for awhile for some reason until I've been
stable longer. Talk about a catch .22... Stay stable with unstable medications until we decide that we can give you enough meds to stay stable with. Great plan, and a true indicator of government planning
    and action.

[shaking head] Quite short-sighted... Are they decent docs
otherwise...? or are you just stuck with what you've got despite them
    not being all that good...

For sure. :) And for the record, I checked the "new" laptop... it's a Pentium... but not particularly new... ;) The battery/charging system
is in much better shape than the old one... so I guess we had gotten to
the "I guess it's broke enough to fix" stage... <G>

    Nancy,

The technology is changing so rapidly that it's dizzying. And, the batteries for laptops, cellphones, ham radio handi-talkies, etc. run down so darn fast. If someone could create a portable, LONG LASTING battery, they'd be laughing all the way to the bank...just like the guy who invented the "Loofa Dog". The dachshunds my late wife and I had LOVED them...and would tear them to shreds in no time.

Some batteries do last fairly well... as long as one doesn't make too
much demand on them... And there have been some portable recharging
devices being made now, that can recharge your devices wherever and
    whenever you need... :)

I suppose if you (ok, the dogs) were consuming them in large quantities,
it probably did produce a large profit for someone... not necessarily
    the inventor, though... :)

Well, while that may be working well for you, I fear that good sir Rob Starr has gone down and left me without a connection for quite some time now. I'm not quite sure how much of what I've written is still behind the waiting dam-burst, but it's been quite awhile. So in our future I see a torrential flood of messages coming for you and others, and then much time with my furious
scrabbling to keep up as the replies start to come in again. *grin*

the green far enough so that I can start making deposits again.
Sounds good... :) Definitely moving in the right direction... :)

Well, I haven't made it to the bank yet, and deposit(s) other than just the minimal 2 seem to be lacking (though one is for multiple combined pay periods).
Regardless, when I get this stuff in (hopefully today) I should be back up into
a bit over 4 digits. Unfortunately the work dried up again right quick after that last little bit. I expect the belt is going to have to stay pretty tight until well after the holiday season here.

More hours authorized is very good... :) The creative exercise is probably actually part of why they hire the work out instead of trying
    to do it themselves... ;)

It was great while it lasted, yeah. Felt really good to be working again for
a stretch, that's for sure. Brings a lot more of a sense of accomplishment to one's life. Money doesn't hurt, either. Though now that I put it that way I cannot help but think of exactly how the root of all evil has hurt so very many
    on this planet.

That actually sounds like very sound advice... easier to acclimatize yourself that way to the pressures of being in that world of people...

Yeah I had to miss a few days due to some horrific bronchitis and a fever that hovered around 102 for awhile. I should be able to get back there today, though. I don't know if it's going to be nice today and really don't care; I'm
going to make it out there and read my biomom's manuscript for awhile and catch
up on some paper journaling entries. Heck, maybe I'll even take my laptop with
and try writing some code if I've got enough initiative, too.

Chuckle. ;) My laptop has just been "upgraded" from an Epson 486 to a Toshiba Satellite Pro (don't remember if it's another 486 or something later)... Last year, with my old one, my niece spotted it and exclaimed That's a Dinasaur! <G> My new one is pretty much a dinasaur, too, but at least it works... ;)

Nice! My laptop is a Toshiba, too. I can't remember the model offhand, but I think it's somewhere around PPro class, definitely a dino, but it's built like a tank and it's not so bad when it's running good. No reason to have all of that hardcore hardware if you really don't need it. If a person can't be patient and fetch a cup of coffee or tea while something is crunching a little bit of data, well then they've got more money than I. ;)

The progress is getting better rapidly. I'm back up to my normal
recovery and performance curve on running, almost.
    Sounds very good... :)

Ack. We'll see how well I'm able to pick that curve back up when the bronchitis is totally gone. I'm gonna try a bike ride today and then a run tomorrow. I hope it doesn't go too horribly.

In the meantime, you are doing the exercises the PT gave you for it, anyway, right...? Too bad you have to wait so long....

Um. I've been a little less-than-vigilant about this. I've let the multiple
reschedulings get me a little bit down in the dumps about it and haven't kept with it so well. I definitely need to knock that crap off, too. When I'm doing other physical things, though, my physical therapy fits perfectly into the routine, though, so with the bike ride today it should work well.

I've heard that tale, too... and I'll buy the crutch aspect... ;) From the outside, though, it doesn't look like it does much for the stress really, except as something that the person thinks is helping...

I haven't seen the studies, but my roomie who is also a massive trove of pharmaceutical information as well as that about many abused and research chemicals has quoted the ones about how nicotine affects the body's ability to handle stress. I should get some more detailed info from him. Except that'll make me want to smoke. The psychological bit of it can't be ignored, though, especially if there's a neuro-pharmalogical basis for things being reinforced. I'd never pick up that filthy habit again if I'd go back. ;)

[shaking head] Quite short-sighted... Are they decent docs
otherwise...? or are you just stuck with what you've got despite them
    not being all that good...

All of the ones that I've had here have seemed very competent for the most part, yes. Much better than the ones that were employed by the VA in
Bismarck, to be sure. It's the system itself that seems to be broken. All of the issues that I've had have been dealt with very well once I'm actually in to
get them handled for the most part, though. Unless, of course, that bit has to
deal with prescriptions being sent out. If I were a bit closer to the inner city and could pick them up myself it wouldn't be so bad, but... :P
    Moar soon.

Odd, that... As far as I've seen, there hasn't been any deluge from
you... just a message or two per packet, and they've been answering
rather older messages, up to about yesterday's packet, where you
answered one (of what was supposed to be two) that I sent out the day
before... goes for both Dads and Asian_Link... First message in this
