• Young suspended

The 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Disciplinary Panel has issued a one-game suspension to Korea forward Bryan Young.

The suspension was due to a Slew-Footing violation, which occurred in Korea's game against Latvia on 8 May.

The incident in question occurred inside the Korea zone at 33:27 in the 2nd period. While attempting to maintain control of the puck against Latvian forward Rudolfs Balcers' attempt to gain control of the puck, Young puts his arm in front of Balcers and then placed his left knee/leg behind Balcers' right
leg. He pushes the upper body of Balcers backwards with his arm. Balcers hit the ice hard first with his upper body (arm and head).

Based on all facts ascertained, the Disciplinary Panel determined that because Young put his arm in front of Balcers and his left knee/leg behind Balcers right leg, followed by pulling the upper body of Balcers backwards toward the ice, the action violated Official Playing Rule 160 (Slew-Footing).

The Panel determined that Young's actions were dangerous, and recklessly endangered Balcers, risking a serious injury, and that disciplinary action should be taken in the form of a one-game suspension.

Young is eligible to return in Korea's game against Denmark on 12 May.
