From Ed Koon@1:2320/100 to All on Tue Feb 7 19:10:00 2017
    Hey Y'all..

Just a one time post to hopefully bring more bbs callers to our hobby.

Doc's Place BBS has been online since 1991 and was one of the first internet bbses when dial up bbses were going offline.

    http://www.was-ist-fido.de/doks/fnews/fido1733.txt

A post similar to this one back in 2000 revived a dead board, and I'm hoping
    to attract new callers.

We offer the complete Fidonet backbone. Access Doc's Place BBS by the web at bbs.docsplace.org or via Telnet on port 26.

We also offer QWK via web browser. Just set your web qwk areas and download
the generated packet. Uploading your rep packet works the same way.

Check us out when ya get a chance.. :)

Don't Shoot.. I'm only the messenger!!

I signed on but can't get the message pointers to advance. I download a qwk packet and get the same messages over and over with no message pointer advancement.

    Something wrong?

Hi Tim, not that i am aware of. Guess nobody else is experiencing the problem or i would have heard something.

Did you telnet in or use our web interface? Probably will have to reselect
your conferences and the last read pointers. I did renumber the conferences some time back.

I telneted in. Weird problem. Can't download packets from `mystic'
boards anymore as their software changed and it weirds out the packet
    messages.
I have to read and reply online.

Will check it out after Church by telnetting in and download a packet. If it's mucked up nobody else has reported it yet.

I just grabbed a packet and it seems fine.

I'm going to try a few other bbs's where the packets have been grabled
    as well.

Recently I couldn't make windows 10 do any of the things it's supposed to
do with ease; like run flightsim X, or delete programs that no longer worked. the `un-install wizard' wouldn't even come up.

Last week windows 10 decided to upgrade itself which took almost two hours. It `completed' the upgrade for about 40 minutes the next morning.

Just for interest I tried to delete flightsim x and after several minutes, it deleted. I got another program to delete as well.

Just now I signed onto your board and grabbed a qwk packet. It opened and
seems fine. So I have to think windows 10 (one of the worst versions of
windows I've ever used) straightened itself out with the latest upgrade.

I'll know better when I try a couple of the Mystic boards I get packets from that have been grunged as well lately.

    Thanks Ed.

I went back to the old Mystic I was running so QWK should work as before!
