Earlier I wrote about trying to use a 4TB External USB HDD with the XP pc. I learned XP couldn't use it, so I used it with a computer with Vista on it.
I have wondered if before I had saved files to it on the Vista pc if XP would had been able to use the Drive if I had used the Vista pc to Partitioned it into Two 2TB sections?

Probably not. The >2TB drive size limit was typically a controller
issue, not a filesystem issue. ===

Thank You for educating "Ed".

Could XP see a 3TB HDD or is 2TB the limit as You wrote earlier.

You'd likely be able to read one 2tb partition on the drive under XP if the sata controller itself supports drives over 2tb (if not it just
won't show up at all), but to partition anything over 2tb on a drive
you need to use GPT instead of MBR formatting, and the earliest OS that will read a GPT/GUID drive is Vista on the consumer side, and Server
2008 on the Enterprise side.
Hope that helps!
From reading BBS messages about Computer stuff (and reading some other web sites) I learned some of the TechSpeak but haven't read about GPT.
I guess it has something to do with the newer Motherboards which replaced the CMOS Chip with a more improved circuit.
I can't remember what the newer Chip on the Motherboards is called.
I had just saw Your message to MRO in the Internet echo and had to make
a TAGLINE out of Your comment to Him.
